Fabrics
My name is Martyn Fisher and I have worked in the UK textile industry since 1983.
I have always been involved with garment linings, pocketing fabric or related garment components like waistbanding.
From 1997 to January 2008 I worked for Morada, one of the great names in garment linings. I was Managing Director of the linings division from 2002.
During my time at Morada I was responsible for setting up the supply network and established close relationships with key suppliers in Asia and Europe.
I also opened the Morada sales office in Hong Kong and was in the process of establishing Morada Asia in Shanghai in 2005 when the situation at Morada UK took a turn for the worse. I won’t bore you with the details but there were big changes and things were never quite the same.
Morada closed in January 2008, at which point I decided to start my own business. I have had fantastic support from a number of people; someone once told me that in this situation people who you think you can bank on tend not to deliver whilst others who you never even thought would help come up trumps.
Nearly three years on, Fisher Fabrics has developed into a thriving fabric business, with a diverse customer base covering different branches of the textile industry.
We have customers in the UK, Europe and Asia. Fisher Fabrics has also become an important partner to fabric manufacturers in Asia and Europe.
During the past two years I have expanded the product range beyond linings. I am now selling a number of outer fabrics, particularly for the bridal market. I also have a range of fashion fabrics from the Far East.
I believe that Fisher Fabrics provides a unique service. I am 100% committed to my customers and their requirements. I am not looking to be the biggest player in the lining & fabric business, I just want to make dealing with Fisher Fabrics a simple and enjoyable process for my customers.
